Are you a seasoned Business Development Manager with an engineering background looking for your next role in Cornwall? My client, a small but growing team pioneering geothermal power development in the UK, are looking to recruit a Business Development Manager to support the growth of future geothermal sites in Cornwall. The successful candidate will perform a variety of duties, working closely with the Senior Management Team, Directors, and other members of the their team to identify, plan and develop new geothermal sites.

This is a full time permanent role. Hours will be a 37.5-hour week with flexible working opportunities, and is paying £45,000 - £60,000 per annum doe, plus benefits. A full job description is available on request.
Key Responsibilities
Creation of a robust strategic pipeline of opportunities for new geothermal sites identified to meet defined development criteria such as access, geology, and available grid connections.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with landowners, National Grid, mineral rights holders, and other key stakeholders. This will include the negotiation and creation of option and lease agreements, commercial agreements, and dealing with statutory planning consultees such as the Environment Agency and World Heritage.
Build a strong network of partnership opportunities across the UK and beyond, participating in webinars, conferences, and other forums, as required.
Evidence of being able to manage budgets and reporting requirements, adapting quickly to meet evolving deadlines. Review and help develop the company funding model to ensure financial viability for future sites, alongside the Finance Director.
Oversee and contribute to the production of major planning applications or planning amendments, providing direction to the internal Planning Coordinator.
Production of reports for Senior Management and the Board.
Work collaboratively with all departments including the construction, drilling, and community engagement teams to ensure sites meet all development requirements.
Team management, driving productivity and focus on business requirements across direct reports. To include workload overview, annual leave reviews, appraisals, and other HR functions, with support from the Office & HR Manager.
Key Requirements
Experience of development of similar projects such as renewable energy sites.
Strong commercial background with proven track record of negotiation and influence.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Hardworking ethos and a passion for geothermal energy and the renewable sector. Prior knowledge and experience of renewable energy would be an advantage.
Full, clean UK driving licence.
