Job Title: Income Officer
Location: Southwark
Working Hours: Monday - Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm
Contract Duration: 4 Months (Possible Extension)
About Us:
We are currently seeking an experienced and dynamic Income Officer to join our team in Southwark. This is an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of revenue management, contributing directly to the income stream of SHS and the Housing Revenue Account (HRA).
Key Responsibilities:
As an Income Officer, your primary responsibilities will include:
- Acting as the first point of contact for the Council regarding all service charge billing and collection queries.
- Negotiating payment plans and making decisions on cases to instruct legal action when necessary, directly impacting the revenue income stream into SHS and the HRA.
- Leading and serving as the primary contact for issues related to the recovery of revenue service charges and major works service charges within the leased housing revenue account portfolio.
- Ensuring compliance with relevant policies and procedures in service charge billing and collection.
- Collaborating with internal teams and external stakeholders to resolve complex income-related issues.
- Providing excellent customer service and building positive relationships with tenants.
Qualifications and Experience:
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Proven experience in income management, ideally in a housing or local authority setting.
- Strong negotiation skills and the ability to make informed decisions regarding legal actions.
- Knowledge of service charge billing and collection processes.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lead and take ownership of income-related issues.
- Understanding of relevant policies and regulations in housing finance.
