The role
We are seeking an enthusiastic, self-motivated, and conscientious Interim Finance Officer to join us in May 2024 on a fixed-term contract. This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience and play a meaningful role in a dynamic and rapidly growing company on a temporary basis (the role is for maternity cover). The ideal candidate will have a high work ethic, be team-oriented, and hands-on in this role.
This is a fixed-term position based in our office in Bicester, with the option to work from home up to 2 days a week. Working alongside the senior management, this role will involve a wide variety of duties as follows:
- Day-to-day financial administration/bookkeeping for the company
- All aspects of accounts receivable, including raising invoices, reconciling payments, weekly debtor chasing, and handling queries. In addition to advising project managers on handling overpayments and raising credit notes as required
- All aspects of accounts payable, including processing invoices within the relevant payment term and uploading project-related invoices to our project management system
- Regular bank reconciliation
- Monthly approval/rejection of staff expense claims
- Monthly preparation of payroll, working closely with HR to ensure that amendments and monthly variances are included
- Oversight of project managers to ensure their projects accurately reflect the revenue released at the middle and end of each month, that client invoices are raised promptly, and that qualitative feedback is gathered for any anomalies
- Inducting new joiners on finance benefits, such as pension, cycle-to-work scheme, and implementing these schemes, including:
- Enrolment of staff in the company pension scheme and making requested changes to pension contributions
- Ad hoc financial reporting for management, working with an external contractor to ensure accuracy and timely delivery
- Submission of quarterly VAT returns and quarterly corporation tax payments
Requirements
Essential
- Degree-level educated or equivalent qualifications
- AAT Level 2 qualified and working towards or qualified in AAT Level 3
- Up-to-date knowledge of financial practices, bookkeeping principles, and ethical accounting
- Competent in Microsoft Excel®
- Experience of an accounting platform such as Oracle/Sage™/Xero

Desirable
- Previous experience using Xero™ and/or CMAP, however training can be provided
- Experience of working in an agency providing professional services to healthcare companies
