My client is looking to employ a permanent part time Legal Cashier/Accounts Assistant to work within their Bedford based practice.
You will be required to work 27.5 hours per week Monday to Friday. Hours of work are Monday and Friday 11.15am to 5.15pm - Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday 9am to 3pm with a 30 minute lunch break. Salary GBP15,175 - GBP18,200 (full time equivalent GBP22,000 - GBP24,000) dependent on experience.
Role:
- To comply with the Solicitor s Accounts Rules.
- To comply with the Money Laundering Regulations with due diligence.
- To support the operation of the firm s accounting system.
- Setting up payments from general client, office and designated deposit accounts
- To enter receipt postings to the accounts system on a daily basis
- To post all authorised bills to the accounts system.
- To input all disbursements to the accounts system.
- Opening/Closing deposit accounts.
- Update the bank line regularly throughout the day.
- Performing account checks against bank database monies being sent out and updating the in-house beneficiary library.
- Calculating client account interest.
- To post interest on client and deposit accounts.
- Sending invoice reminders and monitoring credit control.
- To manage petty cash.
- Daily banking of cheques.
- Processing of internal client ledger transfer requests.
- Processing credit/debit card payments over the phone.
- To carry out weekly client to office transfers.
- Dealing with ledger queries, and all other miscellaneous transactions or requests that come into the accounts central email inbox efficiently.
- To assist with purchase ledger and take meter readings.
- To provide holiday cover.
- Maintain a working knowledge of the Solicitors Regulation Authority Accounts Rules and Handbook. Report any breaches to the Team Leader and / or COFA.
- Manage your own work allocation, productivity, and quality of work with minimum supervision
About you:
- Previous Legal Cashier experience would be advantageous but my client is willing to train a candidate that has a solid background in accounts.
- Some flexibility will be required to cover sickness & holiday.
