AddressWe are partnering with a leading financial services firm specialising in serving High Net Worth and Ultra High Net Worth individuals, families, and businesses based in Central London. This rare and exciting opportunity entails leading the general counsel function within the firm, with a focus on legal matters related to investment management agreements, NDAs, fund structures, private equity investments, compliance, and general legal affairs. The ideal candidate will dedicate 25-30% of their time to general compliance matters of the firm.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the general counsel function of the firm, overseeing all legal matters related to client engagements, investments, and business operations.
- Draft, review, and negotiate investment management agreements, NDAs, and other legal documents.
- Advise on corporate transactions, particularly in the context of direct private equity investments.
- Establish and review fund structures in alignment with the firm's investment objectives and family needs.
- Provide guidance on private client tax matters, collaborating with tax advisors as needed.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards, dedicating a portion of time to general compliance matters.
- Lead and drive deals to completion from a legal perspective, demonstrating discipline and an entrepreneurial approach.
Requirements:
- Ideally a Minimum 5 years of prior experience in the financial industry, with a focus on legal and compliance functions.
- Demonstrated expertise in establishing and creating fund structures, preferably within a similar client base.
- Familiarity with FCA regulations and approval processes is beneficial.
- Professional qualifications in law or a related field.
- Strong understanding of investment management, private equity, and corporate transactions.
- Ability to work autonomously and lead complex deals to completion.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Proven track record of managing legal affairs within a financial services environment.
