(ENERGY CENTRAL LEARNING HUB)
THE COMPANY
Energy Central Campus (ECC) is a unique partnership between the Port of Blyth, Northumberland County Council and the Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult, with a mission to create the pipeline of talent required for the expanding clean energy sector, at the same time, inspiring, training and delivering routes to employment for the local community.
It is a business-led initiative in the heart of one of the UK’s largest clean energy clusters, providing a clear understanding of the skills and training needs of the sector. ECC will allow the voice of industry to shape training provisions to ensure the development of the high-quality clean energy sector workforce of the future.
ECC will deliver this vision over two phases:
ECC Phase 1 - Energy Central Learning Hub (ECLH) - A new STEM education and vocational training facility, developing energy sector skills and aspirations among young people at school and college, and adults re-training for new roles. Based at the Port of Blyth, learners will develop skills in a real-world clean energy port environment.
ECC Phase 2 - Energy Central Institute -A new higher-level skills and innovation facility, developing energy sector expertise at degree and PhD levels. Creating a focal point for collaboration between energy businesses, OREC, and Northeast universities, it will develop higher-level skills and technological innovations to keep the region at the forefront of clean energy sector growth.
THE ROLE
This is an excellent opportunity for a high-calibre individual to play a key role in managing a unique training facility and ensuring its ultimate success.
As Operations Manager for ECLH, the successful candidate will report to the Head of Operations for ECLH and:
Play a key role in ensuring effective facilities and operational management for the ECLH including support to enable tenant providers to deliver high quality education and training.
Provide full operational leadership of the STEM@Energy Central programme, engaging with funding partners, schools, employers, other STEM organisations and young learners across the region.
Support the Head of Operations in the ongoing development of Energy Central Learning Hub, in line with ECC strategy and objectives.
Work with employer and training/education partners to help nurture effective working relationships and clearly identify needs and opportunities for the benefit of the ECLH.
Support the Head of Operations in ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, policies, and procedures within the scope of the facility including Health, Safety, Environment and Safeguarding.
Support the Head of Operations in delivering and monitoring financial performance in line with budgets and outputs required by the accountable funding bodies.
Deputise for the Head of Operations in their absence at any meetings/events as required and represent ECC’s interests with local, regional and national stakeholders.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Given the scope of this key role, the following skills & experience is required.
Essential:
Thorough understanding of the strategic, operational, and funding environment of STEM education together with demonstrable delivery of successful STEM programmes.
Experience/knowledge of safeguarding in an education context.
Excellent literacy and numeracy skills, sufficient to support the production of effective business plans, statistics, financial reports etc.
Strong communication and presentation skills.
Effective time management and ability to work flexibly towards deadlines and conflicting priorities.
Experience in facilities management.
Experience in managing and working within a small team to achieve common goals.
Experience in collaborative working, within and between diverse organisations.
Experience in representing organisations positively in internal and external forums.
Desirable:
Experience/knowledge of the Health, Safety and Environmental aspects of an organisation.
Knowledge of technical industries including (but not limited to) engineering, manufacturing & clean energy.
Knowledge of Post 16 and Higher Education systems including qualification structures, funding, and modes of delivery.
Experience/knowledge of The Ofsted Education Inspection Framework and management of Quality of Education.

Competitive salary depending on relevant experience and qualifications.
Defined contribution pension scheme, 6% employee and 12% employer contribution.
30 days holiday (Plus 8 statutory days).
