Job Description
Main Tasks & Responsibilities

• To support a disabled young person to ensure their safety and well-being

• To support with general care needs as required.

• To support to maintain cleanliness and tidiness of the client’s equipment and

surroundings

• To develop a positive relationship with the young person and his family

• To interact with the client and keep them entertained with activities they enjoy, in

the home and local community.

• To work alongside a parent or another member of the team when required but to

work independently too

• To accompany the client on short trips out of the house for social activities

Personal Attributes

• Kind and caring, sensitive to the client’s needs

• Cheerful and engaging

• Reliable and trustworthy

• Ability to use your own initiative

• Ability to work sensitively in a home setting respecting the client and family’s right to

privacy and to always maintain professional standards of confidentiality

Skills and Experience

• Knowledge of moving and handling would be desirable but not essential, the client

uses a self-propelled wheelchair to get around but does occasionally need some
support with some tasks

• First Aid training would be desirable but not essential

• An awareness of seizures would be desirable but not essential

• A driving licence and access to a car would be desirable as the client enjoys activities

that are not based within the town

Experience is not essential for a candidate with the right personal attributes as training can
be provided, but they should be able to show some suitability for the role.
