Job Description – Relief Personal Assistant
Nature ofthe Job
The Personal Assistant’s role is to support the employer to maintain their independence, both in the home and
out and about, as detailed within this job description
Personal Assistants should appreciate that good communication is vital to understanding the needs of the
employer and the tasks and responsibilities expected of the Personal Assistant may vary from time to time to
meet the needs of the Employer
You will be working as part of a small team of PAs to assist the employer in their own home and out and about
in the community
Main Tasks
Day-to-Day Support
1. Support the lady with her medications
2. Make and serve meals – prompt and encourage the lady to eat and take fluids
3. Driving the lady to health appointments as required
4. Driving the lady to and from to social outings as required, and to support her to go to the shops to choose her own
Food an groceries
5. Enabling the lady to carry out any chosen activity, whether inside or outside her home,
6. Supporting the lady to get outside to walk and build up her strength
7. Assisting with other daily tasks as and when required
General and Domestic Tasks
1. General domestic duties, laundry, ironing, changing bedding and some cleaning
(such as clearing up spillages mopping bathroom room, wiping down surfaces, vacuuming as
required), general tidying as required
Personal Care Support
1. Support with various aspects of her personal care as required – Assist with transfers in and out of the bath, assist
to wash and dress if too tired for bathing – ensure the she is involved and makes her own choices
2. Prompting & assisting of various daily tasks to ensure safety and wellbeing.

Health Care Tasks
1. Ensuring medical items and medication are organized, administered & taken on time and sufficient stores are
maintained
2. Monitoring general health
3. Accurate recording and filing of a range of information as appropriate
- MARs reports for medication and checking medication deliveries
- Carer notes - every shift / handover notes
- Daily Food and fluid diary
- Incident report
