About the Opportunity

We have a tremendous opportunity in front of us to build upon strength to develop an interdisciplinary planning, design and delivery practice that is uniquely Jacobs, that sets the direction for the industry, and is home to the very best and brightest design thinkers, disruptors, technical experts, visionaries and storytellers. Our Cities & Places business unit brings together engineers, architects, designers, specialists, surveyors, urban designers, project managers and transport planners to provide collaborative and coordinated value design solutions for our clients both nationally and internationally.
We have an immediate need for a Principal level Mechanical Engineer specialising in building services engineering and with strong client interfacing skills. We are seeking an experienced engineer who will be responsible for providing design delivery and discipline integration of projects delivered by the Cities & Places business unit. Using excellent project experience, technical awareness and communication skills, the candidate will manage projects and supervise other team members to produce designs and associated deliverables for projects that ensure Jacobs maintains the highest technical standards, levels of service and quality.
Key requirements for this role are strong communication skills with a collaborative working and positive, can-do attitude. Regular check-in meetings to review progress, design development and to constructively resolve any blockers with project teams will be essential and form part of your day-to-day work ethic. You will need to be able to work on your own and with your team and take responsibility for decision-making and output deliverables. Strong design coordination and collaboration skills with the ability to work and assume a key role within multi-disciplinary design teams is also a key aspect of this role.
Here's What You'll Need:
- MCIBSE accreditation or working towards achieving accreditation
- Qualification to Degree Standard in a relevant discipline, or equivalent experience and knowledge
- Experience of working within Building Services engineering design consultancy practice
- Knowledge and experience of UK regulations
- Working knowledge of AutoCad & Revit MEP
- Sustainable technology integration knowledge and experience
- Good communication skills
- Project Management experience.
- An enquiring approach with a desire to explore innovative ideas whilst still understanding the need for a good commercial balance
