Project Officer x 2
Kent County Council (KCC) would welcome applicants for the following two roles on a full time basis (37 hours per week):
- Project Officer - Regional Adoption Agencies (RAA)
- Project Officer - Children’s Social Care Sector-Led Improvement Programme (SLIP)

Role Responsibility - RAA
The Department for Education (DfE)’s Adoption strategy: achieving excellence everywhere (July 2021) included a proposal to investigate whether some national or pan-regional commissioning would provide better value for money in commissioning adoption support. This provides an exciting opportunity for an experienced Project Officer to work within KCC’s Children’s Commissioning team. This role will work closely with Children’s Commissioning and three RAAs across the South East. The successful candidate will be expected to carry out a variety of tasks including the project management, coordination, and execution of strategic plans for the pan-region; taking responsibility for carrying out key tasks as part of the project delivery plan; maintaining spreadsheets and analysing data; writing reports; supporting the lead Commissioner; and working in partnership across the three RAAs and the RAA National Commissioning Team.
As well as the experience, skills and knowledge outlined in the person specification, applicants should be able to demonstrate the following:
- Understanding of commissioning;
- Ability to prioritise work to meet required deadlines and to work on own initiative and as part of a team to produce end results;
- Excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills.

Role Responsibility - SLIP
KCC is looking to recruit a Project Officer to be hosted by the Children’s Commissioning team to support the Sector-Led Improvement Programme which aims to improve the overall performance of children’s social care by using the strongest performing local authorities to provide peer support to authorities who are working to improve their services.
The Project Officer will work across both Commissioning and the Safeguarding, Professional Standards and Quality Assurance teams; identify areas where the two teams need to strengthen links for quality; and set up systems and processes as identified by professionals, including making improvements to the areas identified for the SLIP programme.

- Excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills.
