Who we're looking for

We are looking for an experienced and Senior Business Development professional to support market activation activities across government and public sector markets. The role is critical to supporting our growth ambition, by ensuring we effectively drive propositions, solutions and our wider focus areas for growth into priority clients and markets.

We are looking for someone who has a solid Business Development background and/ or relevant government/ public sector experience. The candidate must be results driven and entrepreneurial in their ability to translate client issues into Business Development activities. This role sits and focuses at the earlier end of the sales cycle and is responsible for:-

  • Development and execution of priority Business Development campaign/ programme activities, working with senior stakeholders across the business responsible for our sector based markets, client relationships and propositions
  • Supporting the design and execution of Business Development campaigns/ programmes so that they are relevant to government and public sector clients
  • Driving relationship building activity within our priority markets, including working with the wider relationship management and client teams
  • Early stage Business Development activities in support of our long term priority pursuits and must win opportunities
  • Supporting the design and sales approach for priority solutions and propositions so that they are relevant to government and public sector clients
  • B ringing insight and market knowledge to the sectors

You will need to be resourceful, tenacious and have a drive to collaborate widely. You will develop a knowledge of key priorities and propositions relevant to our government & public sector clients, whilst understanding the wider backdrop of the firm's growth strategy. You will have a strong client focus and possess a professional resilience that helps you adapt to the changing aspects of the role. This is an exciting role that requires an ambitious and client-centric candidate who can deliver exceptional internal and external client service.

This role will report to the Head of Sales for Government & Health Industries (G&HI), and work closely with the Leader of Industry for G&HI to deliver against the go to market strategy for G&HI.

Your responsibilities:

  • Development and execution of priority Business Development campaign/ programme activities, working with senior stakeholders across the business responsible for our sector based markets, client relationships and propositions
  • Supporting the design and execution of Business Development campaigns/ programmes so that they are relevant to government and public sector clients

Skills and experience required:

  • Demonstrable experience in a Business Development role within a complex service-focused organisation - and/ or - working in government and public sector markets within a complex service-focused organisation, with an advanced understanding of client issues and market dynamics. Experience of working for a Professional Services firm, such as PwC, would be preferable albeit not essential.
  • Strong project management/ delivery skills.
  • Strong experience of developing and managing relationships with key internal decision makers, and influencing internal wider teams to mobilise behind Business Development activities to drive new business, opportunities and pipeline.
  • Ability to build relationships with clients and partners, based on trust and the PwC purpose and values.
  • Preferable to have experience of working with a sales & marketing environment, including with other teams on cross-functional projects.
  • Strong business and commercial acumen allowing you to analyse and interpret data and produce market insights for a senior audience. Preferable to have experience of using Salesforce CRM.
