Senior Commercial Manager
Location: Cambridge Heath, London
Salary: £75,000 - £80,000
What you will be doing
- Responsible for the commercial delivery of projects, pre and post-contract.
- Ensure costs are managed diligently and financial targets are met or exceeded.
- Ensure contracts are administered with correct governance and compliance. Understand the key commercial risks associated with the contract/s you are responsible for and take all necessary measures to mitigate the business’ s exposure.
- Report back to the respective Head of Cost Management and Commercial Contracts all commercial related aspects of the project.
- Provide regular up to date cost reporting to the business, including risks and opportunities.
- Prepare sub-contract documentation for review. Once approved, assist in execution.
- Maintain effective and accurate cost control.
- Plan timely payments upstream and downstream, ensuring healthy cashflow for the business.
- Proactively identify Client change and Sub-contractor/Sub-consultant variations from tender stage to contract completion.
- Manage Sub-consultants and Sub-contractors effectively.
- Attend all requisite site meetings with Client, Sub-contractors and Project Managers.
- Assist the Bidding team with pricing tenders and identifying risks, when required.
- Support the Commercial team in creating new strategies and processes and implementing them across the business.
- Work closely with Project Managers, Accounts and Finance teams throughout the duration of the project cycle.
The Skills and Experience you need:
- Degree in Quantity Surveying/Commercial Management, or other construction or engineering related degree.
- RICS qualified with at least 5 years post qualification experience.
- Experience in FIDIC and other industry internationally recognised forms of contract.
- Experience managing projects up to £20m as the commercial lead.
- Ideally experience in temporary, fast track construction with particular emphasis on event overlay, modular and relocatable buildings.
- Advanced competency in Microsoft Excel, particularly formulas, macros, pivot tables, and data analysis.
- Team player; positive attitude; proactive; problem solving can-do approach; ambitious and goals orientated.
- Fluent in English.
