We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Credit Controller to join our small Credit Control team. You will look our Wholesale Customers across the EMEAI region. You will be proactive and assertive, willing to get stuck in and described as someone who ‘make things happen’.
Reporting into the Global Wholesale Credit Manager, you’ll be responsible for collecting payments with efficiency and accuracy and reducing debtor days. You’ll be able to build strong trusting relationships with our customers and challenge them when necessary. We need a proactive problem solver, someone who is great at spotting potential problems and risks, and sharing these with the Sales Managers and Finance team. Working alongside the Credit Control team to ensure consistency and best practice across the team, you’ll keep outstanding receivables of customers to a minimum and monitor accounts closely. Our Customer service team will also be a main contact for you, looking at discrepancies for short deliveries, faults or returned stock.
You could be an experienced Credit Controller looking for an autonomous role. You’ll have used reporting systems before and be technically savvy. You’ll also support our Head of Credit Control with running reports when needed and will enjoy getting stuck into the detail. Resilience and adaptability in the role are key!
The Responsibilities:
- Ownership of customers across multiple regions, with the ability to identify and prioritise activities to ensure key stakeholders in the business timelines are met
- Proactively contacting customer accounts by email and telephone to pre-empt debts that may become overdue based on historical payment history and to ensure prompt collection of overdue debts
- Managing our Buying Groups across the EMEAI region, including invoice submission, payment allocation to include accurate settlement discounts and deductions
- Leading the process of our customer portals for key customers such as Amazon and Zalando including deduction estimates and payment forecasting
- Management of dropship customers, including timely processing of high volume transactions using portal download and excel driven upload tools to assist allocation and log debit notes
- Accurately record and report queries to the wider business areas, using ad hoc and set reporting, for rapid resolution
- Reconciling customer ledgers to resolve discrepancies and provide accurate and clear next steps to relevant parties
- Ensuring all deductions have credit notes raised once investigated and deemed correct – if the deduction is invalid initiating timely contact with the customer for repayment
- Identifying and escalating problematic debts with the ability to present and issues and required solutions to other teams.
- Monitoring Credit Control Administrator activities to ensure they are accurately applying customer payments on accounts to ensure they are up always to date and fully completed, and being responsible for support with any complicated cash applications
- Daily reports to Customer Service of all cash receipts to relevant stakeholders, to enable them to release stock as required
- Taking phone calls from customers with account queries and to resolve any accounting issues in a helpful and proactive manner
- Credit checking and recommendation of customer credit limits
- Delivering regular customer status reports to the Credit Management team and CFO as required
- Providing reports and recommendations to the business showing the status of their accounts for decision making
- Support other CC functions and finance where necessary
- Support with setting up customer accounts
The Person:
- A strong background of credit control experience, fashion retail preferred
- Self-starter, capable of identifying areas for process improvement and making clear recommendations
- Excellent attention to detail, able to spot details that others may miss
- Excellent written/verbal comms, and happy to pick up the phone
- A proven record of doing what they say they will
- Experience with NAVISION systems preferred
- Strong excel skills (VLOOKUP, pivot functions, report building)
- Experience working with Amazon preferred
- Experience of working with customers who operate through portals, provide debit notes and require remittance uploads
