Job Description:
We are currently seeking a motivated and dedicated Locum Senior House Officer (SHO) Psychiatrist to join our dynamic team within the [NHS Trust Name]. This position offers a valuable opportunity to contribute to the provision of high-quality psychiatric care to our diverse patient population.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments and evaluations of patients presenting with a range of mental health conditions.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, including consultants, nurses, psychologists, and social workers.
- Provide ongoing psychiatric care and management, including medication management, psychotherapy, and crisis intervention as necessary.
- Monitor and review the progress of patients, adjusting treatment plans as needed to ensure optimal outcomes.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, case conferences, and clinical reviews to contribute to holistic patient care and treatment planning.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records, ensuring compliance with clinical governance and confidentiality regulations.
- Liaise with external agencies, including primary care providers, community mental health teams, and voluntary organizations, to facilitate seamless transitions of care for patients.
- Contribute to the teaching and supervision of junior medical staff, medical students, and other healthcare professionals as appropriate.
- Engage in continuous professional development activities to enhance clinical knowledge and skills, staying abreast of developments in psychiatry and mental health care.
- Adhere to Trust policies, procedures, and guidelines, promoting a culture of patient safety, quality improvement, and service excellence.
Requirements:
- Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) and a valid license to practice psychiatry in the UK.
- Completion of Foundation Year 2 (FY2) training or equivalent experience in psychiatry.
- Demonstrated clinical competence in the assessment, diagnosis, and management of mental health disorders across the lifespan.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build therapeutic relationships with patients and collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize workload in a fast-paced clinical environment.
- Commitment to upholding ethical standards and promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion in healthcare practice.
- Flexibility to work shifts, including weekends and evenings, as required by service needs.
- Previous experience working within the NHS or a similar healthcare setting is desirable but not essential
