The Faculty of Natural, Mathematical & Engineering Sciences (NMES) is seeking a motivated, highly organised and people oriented Senior Programmes Manager. This is an exciting opportunity to take up a new post that will have specific responsibility for the set up and delivery of programme administration for the new interdisciplinary Natural Sciences programmes, that are due to start in September 2024. This is a key part of the King’s Interdisciplinary Science investment and brings together staff from across three faculties to deliver an innovative new programme. The role will work very closely with academic and professional services colleagues in NMES and partner faculties, as well as central services. The postholder will set up and develop a team to support the delivery of the programmes and will plan and implement key processes to ensure an excellent staff and student experience. The Senior Programmes Manager is a key role in the faculty, contributing to the development and delivery of faculty educational aims as well as supporting the wider university strategy and vision. They will work with the two other faculty Senior Programmes Manager roles to enhance and improve process and will lead on a range of projects across programme management activities in support of student and staff in a period of change. The role is responsible for: The effective delivery of programme administration and education support for programmes in the faculty, ensuring a consistent, high level of professionalism, and alignment with university and faculty strategies and priorities. Leadership of the programme administration staff in the faculty, developing and maintaining effective relationships with senior stakeholders, networks and external partners. Monitoring and supporting delivery of high quality customer service through continual review and monitoring of adherence to indicators of service delivery. Anticipating and addressing service delivery issues, ensuring resources are fully utilised at times of peak demand and escalating when additional resource is needed Representing the faculty in wider university activities and committees, in support of the faculty’s interests and engaging with university functions. Essential criteria Education to degree level or equivalent Substantial administrative experience gained within a Higher Education environment, preferably with a focus on taught programme delivery Experience of developing innovative solutions and practical implementation for strategic change Experience of managing projects and managing change Experience of translating complex regulations, processes and information in suitable formats for a variety of audiences Proactive and authentic approach to leadership, strong experience of line management and creating high performing teams, including motivating staff, performance management and maintaining a positive, proactive culture of continual review and development. Strong interpersonal skills including influencing and negotiating with stakeholders across organisational boundaries to deliver a timely positive outcome diplomatically Ability to build networks with colleagues and stakeholders across the College Ability to work under pressure in a busy environment Proven ability to use initiative, prioritise workloads and respond positively to situations arising at short notice Advanced IT skills with particular reference to database use, reporting and the Microsoft Office suite of programmes Desirable criteria Good knowledge of issues facing students in Higher Education Evidence of continuous professional development
