Job description

About the Job

Interview Date: 16 April 2024

The Student Records Teams, as part of Academic Registry, manage the student data for all University of Northampton Students. We are three busy teams who work with other key departments within the University to support our students from their enrolment through to their graduation.

Student Records Administrators ensure that each student has an up to date, accurate record tracking their progress throughout their studies from enrolment to graduation. Comfortable with a changing environment, you will join a friendly & supportive team who work to a hybrid model of home and on campus working.

You will be responsible for supporting enrolment processes, administering module choices, inputting grades, providing accurate information for module boards and dealing with Student Records queries for UK based, international and partner students on a variety of programmes.

The University of Northampton offers a generous annual leave entitlement (25 days a year if you are full time) , and extra additional University closed days, eligibility to join the Local Government Pension Scheme. We offer a comprehensive induction programme along with continuing learning and development opportunities and staff discounts on a range of products and local services including the ability to purchase a TOTUM student discount card which gives you access to over 350 student discounts.

We want you to be able to carry out your work in a way that best supports UON and our students, but also you as an individual. We understand this may vary between different areas of the university as well as from one person to another.  With Smarter Working you can work with increased flexibility, if you would like to, which can facilitate greater freedom and autonomy.

We are an accredited Living Wage Foundation Employer and currently pay the real living wage. In recognition of this the salary for this post has been increased to pay the higher amount which currently supersedes the actual Grade 4 salary before living wage which is £22,681 - £24,533 per annum.

About You

With a keen focus on team working and delivering high quality services to our students, and University colleagues, you will need to be able work in an organised, efficient manner with high levels of accuracy and attention to detail. We work on a wide portfolio of courses which provides a varied and interesting workload. Your ability to work on competing priorities and problem solve is essential. You will communicate effectively and clearly to University staff and students, in person, by email and telephone. An excellent working knowledge of IT office-based applications and experience in the use of databases and reporting systems is essential. The ability to work well in a team to manage peak workloads will be a valuable asset.

Qualification

Essential;

  • GCSE or equivalent vocational qualification (e.g. NVQ 3 or equivalent)

Department

The post is located within Academic Registry. Academic Registry is central to the delivery of the University’s strategy. What we do matters to staff throughout the University, to students and their experience at every stage of their higher education journey and to a range of external stakeholders. It is therefore essential that we provide reliable, trusted, expert, consistent, transparent and efficient services.

Academic Registry includes a number of teams supporting student administration. These include Admissions, Quality, Curriculum approval & data teams, Student Records, Assessment, Ceremonies and Exams, Apprenticeships, CPD Administration, and Student Conduct, Complaints and Appeals.  Academic Registry works closely with all Faculties and professional services teams across the University.

About Us

Come to the University of Northampton and you will see that we do things a bit differently.

We are one of the youngest universities in the UK but we are already leading the way in adding value to society, which we call social impact. We have won multiple awards for our work in this area, among others, but what matters the most to us is ensuring that our students and graduates have the opportunity to make their mark on the world too. That’s why we were the first university in the UK to be named as a Changemaker Campus in 2012.

We want to break the mould of what Higher Education can be. This has led us to build a whole new University from the ground up that is designed to reflect the way that students actually learn rather than the way they are expected to learn. Waterside Campus opened in September 2018.

Our commitment to transforming lives and inspiring change is at the heart of all that we do

Right to Work

All candidates will be asked to provide proof of eligibility to work in the UK at interview.

Due to the requirements laid out by UK Visas and Immigration regarding Right to Work in the UK, the University can only accept applications from individuals who currently have a status allowing them to work in the UK for this position. Due to this criteria we regret that we are unable to offer sponsorship at this time.

Equality

We welcome applications from underrepresented groups.

The University of Northampton is committed to providing a vibrant, ethical and sustainable work, study and living environment that values equality, diversity and inclusion.

This commitment, along with our legal and moral obligations, provides an inclusive environment for staff, students and the public who may be affected by our activities.

Together @ UON confirms our commitment to equality and inclusion, underpinned by our belief in taking action. We are dedicated to creating an environment that celebrates equality and harnesses the power of diversity.

Together @ UON demonstrates our pledge to our staff, students and partners to nurture and develop an environment where equality and inclusion can thrive whilst we Transform Lives and Inspire Change
