I am currently recruiting for a Transport Support Officer on behalf of my client, a leading public sector organisation based in Wakefield (WF1).
An opportunity has arisen to join the Passenger Transport Team as a Transport Support Officer. This role involves working with a front-line team commissioning a variety of transport mainly for children and adults.
Duties of the Transport Support Officer will include:
- Ensure that services are provided to the highest quality/standard with due recognition of client and customer requirements, in accordance with Customer Care, Data Protection and Equal Opportunities policies.
- Contribute to the maintenance of good employee relations within Transport Services.
- Obtain quotes and commission transport for Home to School pupils and any other childrens transport on a daily basis.
- Obtain quotes and commission transport for other vulnerable adults, school meals and any other transport requests on a daily basis as required.
- Planning and scheduling various means of transport across a diverse range of customers and communicating these as required.
- Receive/make telephone calls, send/receive emails. Deal with queries, issues and complaints from social workers, service users, their carers, relatives, schools and contractors as appropriate
- Create and maintain computerised systems for recording and reporting on contractor costs for commissioned in transport, identifying trends and issues to management.
- To ensure the Passenger Transport systems are maintained
To be successful in this role as Transport Support Officer, you will have:
- Knowledge of office procedures.
- Confident and effective user of IT applications including word processing, excel spreadsheets, email, databases.
- Knowledge of the Wakefield area.
- Be able to demonstrate a good level of experience working in a busy office environment.
- Previous experience in a similar area of work
- The ability to deal with sensitive and confidential issues and information is an important part of the responsibilities.
- Good communication and customer relation skills are required, as well as an understanding of the needs of vulnerable service users and groups including children.
This is a full time post, 37 hours per week Monday-Friday, with a pay rate of £12.59 per hour (PAYE). The post is currently based in Wakefield at the Newton Bar Depot but there is a pending move to Featherstone.
