The British Library is a Grade 1 listed building packed full of knowledge from around the world. It is home to many of the nation's prized treasures, including works by some of the greatest minds in history - from Magna Carta and Shakespeare to Florence Nightingale and Ghandi.
Our Central Events Team strives to maximise revenue-generating opportunities for venue hire events and filming, engaging a wide range of corporate and private clients. Reporting into the Senior Events Manager, you will be responding to incoming enquiries and entering sales leads and bookings into our database, participating in the weekly Events meeting, administering contracts and invoices to ensure deposit and advance payments are received on time.
The role will involve co-ordinating venue site visits with clients and suppliers, liaising on the operational details of the planning process, creating detailed events sheets and managing on the day event logistics to ensure the smooth delivery of events. Solid experience of working with caterers is also a key element of the role as we have an on-site caterer who you will be working with for all catering requirements. In addition you will also you will also support marketing activity including social media content.
The Central Events Team is key in delivering excellent standards of customer service to our clients, as well as to colleagues for our own British Library events programme, ensuring that health and safety processes are adhered to during events in order to protect the building and its collections.
The successful candidate will be highly organised with significant experience in the Sales and operational delivery of events within a venue environment. A pro-active approach and high levels of attention to detail and interpersonal skills are essential for this role. The successful candidate will also have the ability to remain calm under pressure, be a creative problem solver and maintain a diplomatic approach to dealing with clients.
