Chief Accountant - Corporate Finance Business Partner
About Us and The Role:
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced finance professional to step into this critical role within Norwich City Council’s Corporate Finance team. Working as Chief Accountant you will play a significant role in delivering a complex financial and technical accounting portfolio of work.
The ideal candidate will be professional, enthusiastic and will be a qualified accountant with at least three years’ post qualification experience in a similar role. You will have experience of year-end accounts closure processes, preparing statutory statement of accounts and liaison with external audit.
The role will oversee providing outstanding strategic advice to the Head of Finance, the Director of Finance and Treasury Management Committee, on all aspects of the Council’s treasury management activity.
Managing a team of three direct reports, we are looking for someone who can maintain motivated and high performing teams with a commitment to excellence and continuous professional development.
With an ability to influence thinking, build strong relationships and work collaboratively, you should be comfortable explaining complex financial information in an easy-to-understand manner to non-financial managers as well as working closely with a wide range of stakeholders and external partners.
The role will monitor and evaluate the Council’s balance sheet, ensuring key reconciliations are completed. In addition, you will also oversee monitoring of the capital programme and fixed asset register along with providing expert advice on Tax and VAT.
