Job Description
This post will directly provide, as part of the English as an Additional Language (EAL) Education team, the delivery of a range of flexible services, projects and training appropriate to the needs of children, young people and families with EAL. The post holder will work in schools, home and community to understand the cultural diversity of their caseload, and support their transitions, inclusion and engagement with learning.
Responsibilities
To undertake direct, task-centred work with children, young people and their parent(s)/carers within the school and the family home and community setting with a focus on early engagement and transition planning, in accordance with departmental policies and operational instructions.
Contribute to the assessment of need, development of support plans and undertake, jointly with colleagues, specific projects in response to identified need.
Contribute to the overall planning and development of the service and the organisation and provision of resources and activities to meet the cultural, social and emotional developmental and learning needs of children, young people and their families.
Participate in the Council’s employee review and development programme.

- Direct personal experience of working with children/young people who face barriers to learning.
- Direct personal experience of working with families to support effective engagement with learning.
- Recognised qualification in Social Care and/or Education and Childcare.
- An ability to work alone without close supervision.
- Able to communicate well verbally and when necessary, in writing.
- Adaptable to new situations.
- Effective liaison with others.
- A good working knowledge of children, young people and family needs and an ability to share knowledge.
- The ability to build trust, motivate and encourage.
- Conversational language fluency in Russian or Ukrainian
- A willingness to undertake training.
- Capacity to establish productive working relationships with families and professional staff.
- Calm, patient and non-judgemental attitude.
- Solution focused.
- Flexible working hours.
- Capacity to handle demanding situations.
- Able to manage stress for child and family.
- You will be expected to travel efficiently and effectively between various work locations within Moray to meet the operational requirements of the Service. Due to the rural nature of Moray this is normally undertaken by use of a car
Temporary appointment for up to 23 months

Starting Salary: £29,142.10 (pro rata)
£15.46 per hour
36.25 hours per week - (term time only)
