The role

Azets is open to suggestions for flexible working arrangements, including flexible hours and part time arrangements.

The Group Head of Internal Communications role is a specialist new role reporting to the Group Director of Communications. It is an opportunity to take a key employee engagement position at a global level in Azets, working closely with the C-Suite to drive strategic Internal Communications aligned to growth. It is a highly collaborative role, also working with the wider business and group teams including M&A and HR.

The Group Head of Internal Communications will play a critical role in shaping and delivering Internal Communications that engage, inform, and inspire our employees across Azets. This role is responsible for creating and implementing a Group Internal Communications strategy that effectively conveys the company’s vision, values, and goals to our diverse workforce.

By fostering a culture of transparency and connection, the Group Head of Internal Communications will help to ensure that all employees are aligned and motivated to achieve our shared goals, while creating shareholder value by ensuring our commercial objectives are amplified and understood by our colleagues.

Key accountabilities

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute Internal Communications strategies that support the delivery of our five-year ‘Pathway’ strategy and engage employees across the group.
  • Ensure our leaders are visible and sharing content that encourages dialogue, feedback, and participation from leaders and employees at all levels.
  • Manage the creation and distribution of clear, concise, and compelling content for a variety of channels, including email, intranet, video, and social media.
  • Coordinate with group teams, business units and regional teams to ensure consistent messaging and to highlight key initiatives and achievements.   
  • Monitor and report on the effectiveness of Internal Communications strategies and initiatives, using data to drive continuous improvement.
  • Provide communications support and guidance to senior leaders, helping them to communicate effectively with their teams.
  • Stay informed about best practices in Internal Communications and propose innovative tools and approaches to enhance employee engagement.
  • Handle sensitive information with discretion and uphold the company’s values in all communications.
  • Organise virtual and in-person events, such as town halls, Q&A sessions, and leadership presentations, to foster a sense of community and dialogue across the organisation.

Key deliverables:

Develop a Group Internal Communications strategy – aligned to our purpose and values that will drive opportunities to keep improving our colleague engagement and understanding of our strategy, commercial objectives, and the underlying Pillars that will help us achieve it.

Content creation – enjoy writing and generating high-quality and engaging content across our internal communication channels – The Pulse our Group newsletters, our intranets, email campaigns, video messages and other channels that will engage our diverse workplace.

Stakeholder collaboration – a key value across Azets and vital within our Internal Communications function so building strong relationships with key stakeholders to gather information and insights regarding their communication needs.

Driving communications linked to our purpose – for example ESG, D&I, Colleague Wellbeing and Recognition initiatives all to build and promote our Amazing Azets culture. Responding and analysing feedback from our core colleagues engagement surveys to ensure our strategic priorities are being embedded.
Driving major Group initiative communications – Azets is an organisation that is always changing and growing and working dynamically so an important part of the role is ensuring timely and transparent communication to our colleagues on major changes that takes them on the journey.

M&A communications – working with our M&A team to drive best practice Internal Communications frameworks to engage new colleagues joining Azets.
Measurement and Analysis – establishing metrics and KPIs to help us evaluate the effectiveness of our internal communication initiatives and analyse the data so we can continuously improve our communication activities.

Skills & experience

  • Experience working for an international Group company with diverse stakeholders across different geographies and cultures.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information in a clear and engaging manner.
  • Strategic Thinking- The ability to develop strategic Internal Communications plans that align with the company’s goals and objectives and adapt strategies to changing organisational needs.
  • Exceptional Writing and Editing- Strong writing skills to create clear and engaging, content across various formats (e.g., newsletters, press releases, intranet content).
  • Editing skills to refine the messaging and ensure consistency with the company’s voice and brand standards.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills for presenting information and ideas to employees, leadership, and stakeholders in a clear and persuasive manner.
  • Excellent at stakeholder engagement, with the ability to influence and direct senior colleagues.
  • Familiarity with digital communication tools and content management systems (CMS), such as Interact, Poppulo. Skills in video editing and graphic design are a plus.
  • Strong organisational and project management skills to handle multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and manage communications calendars.
  • Competence in measuring and analysing the effectiveness of communication strategies using metrics and KPIs to guide decisions and improvements.
  • Understanding and sensitivity to cultural differences and nuances, ensuring communications are inclusive and resonate with a diverse, international workforce.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in crisis situations, maintaining calm and providing clear and concise information to employees.
  • Knowledge of the latest trends, technologies, and methodologies in Internal Communications.
  • Understanding of how to foster employee engagement, morale, and culture through effective communications.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
