The Ministry of Defence is seeking an experienced and accomplished professional to join the Defence Nuclear Enterprise (DNE) as a Non-Executive Director. This is a unique opportunity to contribute at the highest level, influencing the strategic direction of an organization crucial to national security.

The UK’s independent nuclear deterrent has existed for over 60 years to deter the most extreme threats to our national security and way of life, and that of our NATO Allies. To ensure that we have a credible and capable nuclear deterrent for as long as the security situation requires, we are building four new nuclear armed submarines – known as the Dreadnought Class – and replacing our nuclear warheads. These renewal programmes will utilise world-leading technology and are a showcase in science and engineering, highlighting the prowess of British industry.

As a Non-Executive Director, you will provide independent oversight, constructive challenge, and strategic guidance to the DNE leadership team. You will contribute to the development and execution of our strategic vision, ensuring that we maintain the highest standards in nuclear safety, security, and operational excellence.

You will bring extensive background in overseeing and delivering large-scale infrastructure projects, ideally within a safety critical sector alongside board-level credibility with a track record of effective governance and strategic decision-making. This will be complemented by excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse and very senior stakeholders.
