About Us: FiSH is a community-based charity dedicated to providing companionship, support, and practical assistance to the elderly residents of Barnes, Mortlake and East Sheen, via a network of up to 300 volunteers. Our mission is to combat loneliness and help older individuals to maintain independent lives in their own homes. We are seeking an Office Assistant to help us achieve this important goal. We celebrated our 60th anniversary in 2023 and are proud to hold the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service (2018) in recognition of our outstanding work for the community.
Job Summary: We have a small staff of 4 and are looking for an organised and tech-savvy Office Assistant to play an important role within our team. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional organisational skills, advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), general bookkeeping and the ability to work effectively with minimal supervision. Experience of working with a database is a desirable skill as is knowledge of data protection legislation. A clean driving licence is essential, and access to your own car is preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Director and team to ensure smooth office operations and assist in various projects and regular activities.
- Provide general administrative support, including phone and email correspondence.
- Maintain organised records, (including accounting records) and databases to support our elderly care initiatives.
- Create and edit documents, spreadsheets, and presentations using Microsoft Office Suite.
- Assist in the planning and coordination of various events and activities for our members.
- Assist in the organisation of fundraising events and initiatives.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of volunteers, clients, and events.
- Utilise our Salesforce database for data management and reporting.
Qualifications:
- Strong organisational and multitasking abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other Office Suite applications.
- Ability to work effectively without constant supervision.
- Knowledge and experience with a database (we use Salesforce)
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team.
- Compassion and genuine interest in the well-being of the elderly.
- Clean driving licence would be helpful.
- Strong time management skills and ability to meet deadlines.
- Bookkeeping experience an advantage
