The Role:

Project Finance Specialist

• The role sits within the New Energies & Natural Resources team, reporting into the Head of New Energies & Natural Resources.


• Generally, this role would be providing support to VP/D level employees running transactions, both on analysis and administration tasks.


• There is a customer facing element to the role, including gathering information (KYC, DD etc) and attending customer meetings on occasion (along with more senior colleagues).


• Internally, the role would interface with various other departments including portfolio management and Credit.


• The role has interfaces within ISD, as well as with CD, KYC, OAD, LCM, SMBC LF, SMBC Nikko CM , other marketing departments (CBD1, CBD2, GTFD etc) and possibly other regions and head office.


• Although there is not a budget specific to the role, the role is supporting the achievement of the team budget.


• It would be expected that the role work on up to c 6 transactions per year.

Accountabilities & Responsibilities

• Support marketing and negotiating teams in lead arranging and structuring transactions.


• Preparing credit applications and managing data input for GBR, EIC and other systems.


• Preparing externally facing marketing materials in line with the guidelines and seeking compliance approval.


• Input transactions into the Project Finance Grading Methodology (PD/LDG model) and Corporate Grading Methodology (C&I model).


• As appropriate, financial modelling and analysis for projects in support of transaction lead.


• Working on asset management, distributions and other areas of ISD as requested by team head.


• Managing other administrative and support functions related to the team (e.g. preparation/circulation of signing logs and other material for internal procedures).


• Understanding the Bank's internal procedures and processes and applying them correctly.

Skills & Knowledge

• Some knowledge of Project Finance desirable


• Experience of working in a large financial institution or other relevant role in industry, advisor or finance
