Nature of Post
The post holder will be based at one of our residential homes however, they are employed by the organisation and may be required at some point to work at other appropriate homes. The young people in the care of the organisation will have a variety of difficulties for which they will need varying levels of support. In order to provide the required It is the responsibility of the manager to ensure the Home is staffed effectively and all shifts are appropriately covered and therefore they shall be required to work some weekends, evenings, and out of office hours to meet the needs of the services
At all times, the post holder is expected to conduct themselves professionally, to work within the current legislative framework and adhere to the Policies and Procedures.
Overall responsibilities:
To be a Registered Manager responsible for the maintenance of registration standards as laid down in the Children’s Home Regulations and Care Standards 2015 and as regulated by OFSTED
To ensure that services and support are provided in a person-centred way, using person centred approaches.
To contribute to the overall development and modernisation of services, and to ensure compliance with the aims and objectives of "valuing young people".
To ensure the care and safety of staff and of service users when they are residing at the homes.
The day-to-day management and administration of the home in accordance with statutory regulations and company policies.
The promotion of an environment conducive to a high standard of care in which service users can participate, according to their capacity and wishes.
To be responsible for the recruitment of staff within the Home in conjunction with the Operations Director and Responsible Individual where appropriate
To be responsible for the supervision and appraisals of their staff time in line with regulation.
The Registered Manager will be responsible for liaising with other managers, operations manager and other working colleagues regarding the provision of the service for referred service users.
The Registered Manager will maintain a Statement of Purpose and ensure the home functions in line with the Statement of purpose.
The Registered Manager shall Contribute to individual staff development by way of their personal development plans, "in house" training programmes, and external training
Implement a shift rota system, ensuring the most effective use of staff to the benefit of smooth running of the establishment.
Promote and maintain a quality service in line with statutory requirements and Local Authority guidelines and ensure that all staff are familiar with and adhere to these requirements and guidelines.
Create and maintain an environment which has the capacity to respond to the service user’s individual needs.
Actively promote and maintain a close working partnership with parents/carers and other significant people in the lives of service users, in order to promote their best interests.
Ensure that staff are familiar with and adhere to care plans as agreed for service users.
Ensure that guidelines for the administration and safe keeping of Medication are made available to all members of staff and that these are adhered to.
Be responsible for all aspects of day-to-day management of the home and that the home is running to a financially viable level.
Ensure that the Home is maintained in good repair and liaise with appropriate personnel who have responsibility for carrying out such work.
Promote a positive image of the home by creating an environment which, as far as possible, destigmatises institutional care and creates a welcoming environment.
Responsible for maintaining the home's budget and ensuring that budget boundaries are kept to; be aware of, and adhere to, relevant Financial Regulations; and ensure that financial records are kept, are up to date, and are available for inspection by authorised personnel.
Be responsible for the establishment and maintenance of a suitable record keeping system which will be available for inspection as necessary by authorised personnel. Be responsible for the maintenance of such statutory records as may be legislatively required, e.g. accident book, fire equipment test log, etc
Provide on call support for the team when not based in the home
Other tasks
To maintain personal and professional development and participate in appropriate training activities to aid the development of your skillset
To undertake such other duties, training and/or hours of work as may be reasonably required, and which are consistent with the general level of responsibility of this job.
To undertake health and safety duties commensurate with the post and/or as detailed in the Directorate’s Health and Safety Policy.
To provide suitable on-call arrangements on occasions when there are no managers on the premises.
Qualifications and Experience
Experience
Minimum of 5 years residential experience 2 of which at a supervisory level in the last 5 years
4-year managerial experience in a residential home
Qualifications
QCF level 5 in leadership and management in children’s residential
Sound knowledge of governing legislation, procedures and best practice in caring for looked after children
Willingness to increase knowledge through ongoing training
Experience of managing residential EBD homes
Experience of working with CSE / CCE
Experience of working with Autism, Asperger and other mental health conditions
Evidence of managing GOOD or Outstanding homes (URN’s to be provided)

Full clean driving license
Use of own vehicle
Be able to commute to Corby within 60 minutes or relocate
Salary Scale: Up to £70,000 pa within a generous performance related bonus scheme, progression through these salary scales is dependent upon experience, NVQ’s / QCF’s and continued development.
