HOURS: Full time
WORKING PATTERN: Hybrid, 40% (or two days) in an office site

About this opportunity:

The Group Finance Support team (GFS) has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Manager to join the team in Edinburgh.
We're a team of c400 colleagues within the Finance Division, providing centralised support and expertise to the rest of Finance and the Business.
You'll lead a team that prepares and submits consolidated Bank of England (BofE) Statistical Returns and a team that is responsible for the Intercompany monthly close process.
The BofE Statistical Return team is responsible for submitting FCA / PRA Regulatory and Retail Regulatory returns to UK Finance for the three main Banking Entities and Bank Holding Companies within the Group together with associated queries and governance.
The Intercompany team is a central financial control team who are responsible for ensuring that intercompany balances are recorded, identified, matched and eliminated to produce solo and consolidated reporting.

What you'll be doing:

You'll lead and develop a team (approx. 20 colleagues) and as a Senior Manager, you'll role model strong financial control behaviours; inspire and drive change and influence key senior stakeholders.

Accountabilities will include:

  • Leading the operations of the team including managing capacity, ensuring daily/monthly/quarterly deadlines are met, managing reconciliation issue/s and reporting deadlines are met
  • work alongside colleagues to ensure results are achieved within a robust control framework.
  • Impact assess regulatory changes on BofE reporting.
  • Proactively engage with relevant change projects to ensure delivery is maintained.
  • Visibly lead, take ownership and be innovative in finding opportunities for improvement and redefininging Finance.
  • Build and continuously develop a successful team, ensuring colleagues are provided with opportunities to develop and fulfil potential.
  • Effectively handle relationships with key internal partners
  • Actively participate in the Group Reporting & Insurance senior management team and the wider GFS leadership team.

What you'll need:

  • A qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) or have alternatively gained a similar level of expertise acquired through substantial experience in a finance function
  • Experience of leading a team
  • Strong background of delivery and driving continuous improvement against a constantly evolving landscape
  • Bring a problem-solving approach with the ability to challenge and constructively debate key issues
  • Works collaboratively with a diverse group of stakeholders, utilising well-developed relationship skills
  • Ability to assess the impact of change on products, systems, processes and people.
  • Experience in external reporting in a large group and BofE statistical reporting desirable but not essential
