About North Paddington Foodbank:
North Paddington Foodbank is dedicated to addressing the growing challenges of poverty and food insecurity in Westminster. Innovative Approach to Food Poverty:
Beyond the conventional food aid model of providing food parcels, we have undertaken a strategic shift. Our 'cash first' model, the largest among UK food banks, addresses the limitations of food parcels. The innovative approach provides residents with money advice and emergency income through supermarket food vouchers, ensuring a sustainable solution to food poverty. Our aims include educating and promoting understanding and the impact of the 'Cash First' model, increasing public will for long-term solutions, enhancing empathy toward food bank use, and mobilising people to take action for enduring change.
Putting people with experience of poverty at our heart:
We are committed to placing individuals who have needed to use North Paddington Foodbank at the heart of our decision-making process. 'Participation' for us means building relationships and collaborating with people who have lived experience of severe financial hardship. From designing and delivering services to helping a wider audience understand the impact of hunger and destitution, we want individuals with personal knowledge and experience of severe poverty to be involved in every part of our work meaningfully and frequently.
If this sounds like you, we would love to hear from you.
