I'm thrilled to be supporting an International Development Children's Charity in their search for a new Media Officer. I’m looking to speak to a Media Officer with an excellent nose for a story, and experience engaging with national print and broadcast journalists. You may have developed your skills at an agency, or an in-house role. You will have a keen interest in current affairs and passionate about working for a mission driven charity.
If you have a strong news judgement with a track record of identifying media opportunities for organisations and securing high-quality media coverage, I would love to hear from you!
You will join a supportive and inclusive culture. The role is offered working Monday- Thursday, as the whole charity has Friday's off. There is an opportunity to travel both across the UK and internationally. They ask for just 1 day a week in their Central London office.
Main responsibilities include:
- Develop engaging and impactful stories that will generate media coverage
- Respond swiftly and effectively to media enquiries, ensuring accurate and on-message information
- Draft press releases and media statements
- Identify opportunities within the news agenda to spotlight our charity's initiatives in national media
- Prepare spokespeople for interviews, including drafting briefing documents with talking points

- Salary £28,000
- Part-time, 4 days a week.
- The role is permanent, but is offered as an initial 12 month contract, before being made permanent. (This is charity policy- I'm happy to explain further).
