Finance and Administration Assistant
Start Solar is a renewable company. We are looking for an organised, motivated, and detail-oriented Finance and Administration Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will be a reliable team player with excellent communication skills and a strong desire to learn new skills. You should be able to prioritize your work and be able to manage time effectively. We expect you to be a self-starter who can work independently as well as part of a team.
Duties and Responsibilities
Financial Responsibility:
- Oversee day-to-day financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger activities..
- Ensure timely and accurate recording of financial transactions.
- Conduct regular financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement.
- Prepare accurate and timely financial forecasts.
- Monitor and report on budget performance and provide insights to support decision-making.
- Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, regulations, and company policies.
- Generate financial reports for management review.
- Prepare documentation for audits and liaise with auditors as needed.
Administrative Responsibility:
- Manage office supplies, inventory and order as necessary.
- Coordinate travel and accommodation for staff as required.
- Handle incoming and outgoing correspondence.
- Initial point of contact to deal with and redirect customers as required.
- Meet and greet visitors to the office, providing an initial POC and introduction.
- Use and maintain company digital and physical software and filing systems for documents and records.
General Responsibility:
- Process Improvement identify opportunities for process improvement.
- Implement best practices to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Work closely with the colleagues to achieve departmental goals.
- Comply with company and regulatory policies and procedures.
- Other tasks as reasonably requested.
Requirements
- Proven experience as Bookkeeper or similar role
- Proficient in using accounting software such as Xero(preferable), QuickBooks, or Sage
- Knowledge of financial management principles and practices
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in financial reporting
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with stakeholders at all levels of the organization
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Proven experience in a similar role, preferably in the renewable energy sector.
- Proficient in accounting software and MS Excel.
- Responsible for updating and maintaining information systems on CRM.
- Work safely in adherence to company Health and Safety policy and efficiently at all times.
- Maintain KPIs in line with Business requirements.
- Other tasks as deemed necessary and within scope of role by Senior Management.

Mon-Fri (No weekends)
Work Location: In office in Lisburn, must be able to reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work.
Essential requirements
- Accounting/Bookkeeping: 2 years experience minimum,
- GCSE C or above: Maths and English ,
- Fluent at written and spoken English,
- IT awareness, competent knowledge and user of Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Project Management software,
- Excellent communication (verbal, written and digital) and interpersonal skills.
