Job description
We are currently recruiting for an Internal Communications Manager/Senior Manager (People) on a nine month contract basis.
Department purpose
The business development, marketing and communication team is integral to the setting and achievement of the firm’s global client strategy, which includes guiding the partners and associates in their pursuit of becoming the clients’ trusted advisers, building and maintaining long-lasting, deep institutional client relationships, winning new clients, increasing the visibility of the firm globally, and positioning the firm as the thought leader and most advanced law firm among the global elite law firms. The function works as one team across the globe with very close collaboration between the central groups, such as communications, and the professionals working in local offices, practice groups, sectors and clients.
Role purpose
- The Senior/ Internal Communications Manager - People will provide strategic communications counsel and develop integrated communications strategies and materials that promote Allen & Overy’s people strategy and responsible business programme of work.
- The role requires an individual with the drive and ambition to proactively collaborate with HR colleagues and responsible business teams in creating real change to how we communicate.

Role and responsibilities
- Design and deliver measurable and innovative communications and engagement programs that inform, inspire and connect colleagues across our global network
- Work closely with our HR and employer brand teams to bring our People Proposition – Belong. Excel – to life and embed it throughout the employee journey
- Support HR colleagues with communications campaigns around our global engagement surveys, reward, learning and development and recruitment
- Project manage the annual UK Pay Gap report, including developing themes, writing the report and supporting communications
- Provide expert communications advice and support on ad-hoc projects and activities
- Deliver end to end campaigns - from inception and creation to delivery and measuring success
- Be a key player in our global Internal Communications team, ensuring alignment of messages that support the firm's wider brand and reputation
- Foster strong relationships and work collaboratively with colleagues in communications in London and across our global network to ensure the success of Internal Communications
- Keep ahead of the latest Internal Communications and engagement best practice and global industry and wider market trends, ensuring our Internal Communications are always relevant
Key requirements:
- Significant track record of achievement in Internal Communications and engagement
- Significant experience of advising and influencing senior stakeholders and business leaders
- High degree of integrity and ability to always maintain confidentiality and discretion
- The understanding and ability to write about a broad range of issues, from business focused content to human interest stories
- A highly collaborative team player
- Confidence and the ability to juggle multiple requests, prioritise and act quickly to meet tight deadlines
- Proactive, positive, always seeking a better way
Skills:
- Excellent writing and communication skills
- Exceptional stakeholder and influencing skills
- Highly organised
- Ability to develop compelling and creative campaigns
- Strong omnichannel experience
