We have a Payroll Assistant role available within DS Smith's Paper Mill. Kemsley Mill is one of the largest sites in the UK for recycled papers and the Mill has around 350 employees.
Role: Payroll Assistant
Location: DS Smith Paper Mill, Kemsley Mill, Sittingbourne ME10 2TD (100% office based)
Rate: 33000- 36000 per annum (dependent upon experience)
Contract length: Temporary initially with the view to go permanent
Shift Patterns: Mon-Fri, start time between 08:00 and 09:00 and finish time between 16:00 and 17:00 providing 7.5 hour day is completed.
Start: ASAP
Responsibilities:
- Using Crown T&A, Workday and Excel to conduct payroll activity
- Processing overtime, holiday and sickness for up to 140 logistical staff
- Processing overtime, holiday and sickness for up t0 350 Mill staff
- Ensuring Payroll data is received and submitted within agreed time-frames
- Ensuring Payroll records are maintained in line with current legislation
- Checking hours and details on the payroll system
- Preparing wage payments on a calendar monthly basis
- Liaising with department managers to resolve payroll issues
- Responding to overtime, hours, sickness and holiday queries from employees
- Completing sickness and holiday records as required
- Supporting the implementation of payroll initiatives
Essential requirements:
- Exceptional MS Excel knowledge and experience
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Previous experience within payroll at a volume of up to 350 employees (2+years)
- Good interpersonal skills
- Ability to work on own initiative and to tight deadlines
Desirable requirements:
- Driving licence and use of a car
- Knowledge of DS Smith as an organisation
- Previous experience using Crown T&A and Workday
- AAT qualified
