Job description

We seek a highly organised, warm, and friendly professional with recruitment/HR experience to join our friendly team. Tutoring experience will also be beneficial.

You should be passionate about making a positive difference in a growing company with a great social purpose helping struggling students realise their potential.

About Bright Heart Education

Bright Heart is an award-winning London-based tutoring agency – we won the Tuition Business of the Year award at the 2022 National Tutoring Awards (runners-up in 2023). We are also an accredited National Tutoring Programme (NTP) Tuition Partner. We offer a more nurturing approach and help students with special educational needs (SEN) and those lacking confidence or motivation.

After continued strong growth, we seek help to increase our capacity to deliver high-quality tuition to families, schools and local authorities.

The role

You will provide support for tutor screening, tutor onboarding, and tutor management, as well as offer administrative support to our tutor manager.

The role will be dynamic and suit someone who is happy to work in a fast-paced environment and can work independently. You should be keen to use your multitude of skills and initiative across all business areas as required. You should also be confident speaking on the telephone and able to engage people through your outgoing personality. In addition, you should be happy to multi-task and have excellent organisational skills, written communication and attention to detail. You will also need to be proficient with Excel.

The role will be working from home based in Manchester. You will be required to attend a monthly office day in Central London and meetings with tutors in Manchester and potentially surrounding cities (travel paid for by the company). Although this is a full-time, 5-days-a-week role (preference for 40 hours per week), we can discuss flexible working hours if required.

Bright Heart currently serves London and parts of Surrey and Kent in person and offers online tuition nationwide and internationally. While this is a working-from-home role, we want to hire someone based in Manchester as we seek to recruit tutors in Manchester and surrounding cities.

Duties

You must be prepared to handle a variety of tasks based on the company’s requirements, including:

  • Handling calls and enquiries from tutors as an initial point of contact
  • Reviewing tutoring applications and arranging and conducting screening calls with shortlisted tutors
  • Working with the tutor manager to assist with tutor onboarding, including conducting in-person meetings with contracted tutors in Manchester and other surrounding cities (for example, Liverpool and Leeds)
  • Liaising with tutors about tutor placements and proactively seeking tutoring solutions for students
  • Following up with tutors on various tasks via email and telephone as needed
  • Maintaining various Excel databases by importing data from our tuition management information system and capturing certain additional data manually
  • Performing other administrative and ad hoc tasks as required
  • Engaging with social media channels

You will need a fast and reliable internet connection and a quiet space for working from home.

Benefits of the role

You will work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment where you will learn quickly from working directly with the company’s directors and experienced staff members.

In addition, Bright Heart offers the right candidate:

  • Competitive remuneration with the potential for performance bonuses and growth in remuneration with strong individual and company performance
  • Career growth potential in a successful, growing company
  • A respectful working environment in a purpose-driven business
  • Training and professional development
  • Company pension plan
  • Well-being initiatives
  • Team dinners/events and a friendly, welcoming team

Key skills and experience

  • Excellent spoken and written English
  • Strong organisational skills, an ability to multi-task and a positive can-do attitude
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal skills, especially patience and empathy and excellent telephone manner
  • Previous experience working in a similar role
  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and initiative, and the ability to thrive in a high-pressure environment
  • A quick learner who can prioritise effectively and work independently
  • Strong IT skills with Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Outlook and Word)
  • Able to work appropriately with confidential and sensitive information
  • An interest in special educational needs (SEN) and a genuine passion for helping young people achieve their potential
  • A-levels required at a minimum
  • The right to work in the UK

Salary

£22,000 to £23,000 per annum (full-time equivalent gross based on 40 hours per week), depending on experience and qualifications.

Applying to Bright Heart

Please attach your CV and include a cover letter outlining what makes you an excellent fit for the role and why you would like to work with us. Please also complete the screening tests (verbal communication and attention to detail). Please note that only complete applications will be considered.

Bright Heart is an equal opportunity employer and values diversity. We wish to employ people best suited for the role, regardless of sex, sexual orientation, religion and belief, race, disability, maternity and paternity, age, gender, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership.

We will contact you for a brief screening call should we wish to progress your application. Interviews, references, and background checks for successful candidates would follow this.

We appreciate your interest.
