The Data and Insight Team at UNISON are looking for a talented and enthusiastic Data and Insight Analyst who can promote transparency and integrity in the use of data analytics through robustness and innovation. You will play a key role in delivering insights that drive decision making within the organisation to deliver value for members.
You will be working in an interdepartmental and interdisciplinary environment with datasets from different aspects of the organisation. You will support the Head of Data and Insight to deliver products and projects to support business objectives of UNISON. You will be required to understand different data needs from different teams and come up with innovative solutions that can improve the efficiency and quality of the use of data.
About the role
You will report to Head of Data & Insight and be part of a small but agile and innovative team that work with teams across the union. You will be working with internal colleagues in technical, administrative, campaigning and organising roles, as well as external partners who support us in various projects. So the ability to communicate effectively to specialist and non-specialist audiences is key.
You will have experience to apply analytical skills on a range of research subjects. You will be working with complicated datasets and need to bring together data from multiple sources so it is important that you have a keen eye for detail. You will have all the prerequisite skills to retrieve, cleanse, format, analyse and visualise data using SQL, R and/or Python, and also the ability and willingness to learn new tools and skills if required.
You will be able to understand how data and analytical needs vary depending on the business objectives and requirements of the teams you are working to support. You will be proactive in identifying relevant trends and patterns from data to explore and interrogate. You will understand the importance of consistency and integrity of analysis and reports we produce as a team and help promote that more widely to other teams within the organisation.
