Job description

The People Directorate of the Bank of England plays a pivotal role in helping to recruit, develop and retain the diverse talent that is needed to deliver against the Bank's mission to promote the good of the people of the United Kingdom.

Department Overview

Reward Analysts sit within the Reward team in the People Directorate, focusing on all aspects of remuneration including pay, benefits and pension, in addition to performance management and job evaluation, working closely with various teams across the wider People Directorate.

Job Description

Please note this a 12 month secondment/FTC opportunity.

The Reward team have wide-ranging responsibilities covering many aspects of Reward. The successful candidate will join the existing team who jointly contribute to the implementation and maintenance of the Reward strategy for the Bank, which includes:

  • Management of the Annual Salary Review process
  • Gender Pay Gap and Equal Pay Audit reporting
  • Annual benchmarking to inform reference points
  • Policy review and maintenance
  • Job Evaluation
  • Reward queries
  • Pension and benefits

This is a challenging and varied role which spans a number of subject areas, all falling under the remit of Reward. This role will provide exposure to a numerous stakeholders across the organisation and allow the opportunity to get involved in some deeply analytical work streams in relation to Reward and also contribute to decision making within this arena, keeping engaged with the external environment alongside the ongoing needs of the Bank as an organisation.

Role Requirements

Minimum Criteria

  • Experience of working in a HR/People or data function
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Experience of working independently to deliver outputs.
  • Ability to work closely with others to achieve a combined output.
  • Good written and communication skills, being sensitive to audience and subject matter diversity.
  • Strong time management skills and the ability to manage competing deadlines where necessary.
  • The ability to problem solve, challenge and be challenged.
  • Competent excel skills as much of the analysis undertaken is excel based, using large data sets.
  • A keen interest in Reward.

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience of Reward and/or Job Evaluation, otherwise a background in a HR function.
  • Experience using “R” or other analytical tools.

Salary and Benefits Information

This specific role offers a base salary of circa £46,330 - £51,000 per annum (depending on skills and experience) on a full-time basis. We encourage flexible working, part time working and job share arrangements. Part time salary and benefits will be on a pro-rated basis as appropriate.

In addition, we also offer a comprehensive benefits package as detailed below:

• A non-contributory, career average pension giving you a guaranteed retirement benefit of 1/95th of your annual salary for every year worked. There is the option to increase your pension (to 1/50th) or decrease (to 1/120th) in exchange for salary through our flexible benefits programme each year.
• A discretionary performance award based on a current award pool.
• An 8% benefits allowance with the option to take as salary or purchase a wide range of flexible benefits.
• 26 days’ annual leave with option to buy up to 12 additional days through flexible benefits.
• Private medical insurance and income protection.

National Security Vetting Process

Employment in this role will be subject to the National Security Vetting clearance process (and typically can take between 6 to 12 weeks post offer) and the passing of additional Bank security checks in accordance with the Bank policy.
