Job description

We are seeking up to 4 excellent Teaching Assistants to work with us at Farsley Farfield from September 2024: a superb place to work with amazing grounds, wonderful children and fantastic colleagues.

These roles are typically from Nursery to Year 3 and will be supporting children with SEND needs. (We could also be interested in TAs with a preference for older primary year groups and reallocate existing staff.) Knowledge and experience of working with children with Autism would be beneficial. We offer pay portability for experienced TAs and offer eventual progression to level 2 for TAs at the start of their career.

The roles will be 30 hours per week Term Time Only from 8.30-3.30. There could be opportunities for 30 minutes overtime at lunchtime.

We are a large, popular ‘good’ school with an intake of 60 and approximately 450 pupils on roll (including up to 52 nursery children).  We have two buildings (infant and junior) and huge school grounds.  Our children are lovely and they work hard.  We are proud of each of them and their varied achievements. We are a very inclusive school and a positive attitude and skills in meeting special educational needs will be needed. Our staff team is very hard-working, and they combine this with flair and imagination.  We work closely in year-group teams and support and help each other.

Academic standards are generally good and sometimes very good.  We have a rich and engaging curriculum and make huge use of educational visits with access to a number of minibuses. We have a large number and wide range of extra-curricular clubs.  We are strong in sports generally but would welcome even more expertise.

Our wonderful and extensive school grounds give plenty of scope for environmental work. We also have a unique ‘Farfield Farm’ resource including polytunnels, raised beds, chickens, pigs, bees, a farm classroom, and a 60-tree orchard. If you have particular strengths or interests in environmental education or horticulture, this would be a good place to work!  In 2017 we were awarded the title of national Healthy School of the Year by the TES in recognition of our work around food production, cooking, healthy eating, sports and physical activity.

Please visit our website – www.farsleyfarfield.org.uk and have a look at our wonderful class blogs for more information and to get a ‘feel’ for our school.

Application forms can be downloaded from the vacancies page on our website and completed forms should be emailed to office@farsleyfarfield.org.uk.

The closing date for receipt of applications is noon on Monday 24th June 2024. If you are successful in the short-listing process, you will be invited to attend for interview during the week commencing 1st July 2024.

Shortlisted candidates will be subject to an online check and all successful candidates will be subject to an enhanced DBS check, pre-employment health check and satisfactory references.

We look forward to receiving your application.
